Upper East Side Cooperative
Completed in the spring of 2005, Apartment 6F is a 1700 square foot upper east side residence for a young family designed by maa designs. The original apartment layout, in an elegant pre-war cooperative building, consisted of many small foyers and halls which created dark and essentially unusable spaces. The client couple desired a more open, modern feel showcasing the apartment's high ceilings. maa designs recommended tearing down several walls in the entry area and kitchen which created an open kitchen followed by a dining room leading to the sitting area opposite a working fireplace and then living room.
A rich, warm palette of materials in the kitchen included glass tile backsplash and walls with a Luce de Luna natural stone counter top, warm walnut custom cabinetry as well as high-end, stainless steel appliances. The master bathroom was designed with a grey natural stone floor tile, rippled ceramic wall tile, a wall hung vanity with extra large sink and a frameless glass double shower. Custom radiator unit and thru wall air conditioning enclosures were also designed, giving all rooms in the apartment a clean, modern aesthetic.
