SoHow House

A center hall Colonial home in a small Long Island village was a particular challenge for maa designs and was tastefully renovated and furnished none the less.  Much of the "frou frou" was stripped away to reveal an elegant and spacious home perfect for entertaining large groups.  The pink brick exterior was whitewashed and enhanced landscaping created a more private experience.  A large swimming pool was inserted onto an existing brick terrace since it was not allowed at grade level due to proximity to a nearby creek.

The existing layout was enhanced with several additions that created a more gracious flow.  The traditional home was further complemented by modern furniture.  Every room of the six-bedroom house was thoughtfully furnished to maximize views and take advantage of the natural light.  Four fireplaces contribute to the warm experience.
