Long Island Cottage
Working closely with a talented interior designer as a client, maa designs transformed a charming shingled cottage on a beautiful large wooded lot near the center of a small Long Island town. Structural changes included the removal of an interior stair to the basement, the installation of exterior doors to the basement as well as the removal of an interior fireplace which had divided the living room from the kitchen. These changes resulted in a wonderful open kitchen and living area.
Other major changes included the conversion of a small attached garage into a lively screened porch, the removal of a dropped ceiling over the dining room to create a beamed cathedral ceiling and the installation of all new exterior sliding glass doors. The exterior of the house was refurbished with a new roof, the existing dark shingles were power washed and the trim was scraped and painted in a distinctive green color. Extensive landscape work was also completed as well as the addition of a swimming pool and deck.
